Description

The Alta Environmental Center seeks to increase Alta Ski Area's sustainable efforts as well as community awareness and involvement. Internal sustainability is approached by improving and increasing greening efforts and sharing progress. The Center also looks to increase environmental research and education in Alta through the coordination of facilities and tools provided by the ski area. For more information on bringing classes to Alta or conducting scientific research please contact the Alta Environmental Center.

Our Mission is Sustainability...to protect and improve the well-being of Alta's environment, ski industry and community. Building on Alta Ski Area's 75-year heritage of conservation, the Alta Environmental Center was created in 2008 to improve internal sustainability practices across departments; support research and collaboration with our external partners; and communicate progress with our skiers. As the stewards of our privately-owned and Forest Service permitted lands, it is our duty to ensure Alta addresses the challenges posed by increased visitation, development, and growth.
