A wide variety of informative seminars and interactive activities are planned geared towards raising families in a healthy and sustainable environment.

We've created two workshop tracks for the day:

Mountain Midwifery's Pregnancy and Childbirth Series offers expert advice to expecting families to help guide you through a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Naturally Loved's Healthy Family Workshop Series focuses on interactive topics to keep your little ones happy and healthy.

Mountain Midwifery Pregnancy and Childbirth Seminar Series:

11:00AM - What can a Doula do for you? 
Heather Scott, CLD, CCCE, from Cocoon Birth, LLC

This presentation will discuss the benefits of working with a doula during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. Information on the doula's role and how to choose a doula will be provided. What can a doula do to enhance your birth experience? Come find out and get your questions answered by the experts!

12:00PM - Vaccines 101
Dr. Joe Marceny, MD from Pediatric Pathways

Dr. Joe Marceny is a general pediatrician at Pediatric Pathways with 14 years of clinical experience. This talk addresses questions and concerns surrounding vaccinations and will provide a balanced view of vaccines frequently given during early childhood. It will also discuss some of the more common vaccine schedules.

1:00PM - Water Birth: Is it safe?
Heather Thompson, Ph.D, from Beyond Birth

Join us for an informative discussion about birthing babies underwater! We will talk about why more women are choosing this type of birth plan, details of how water birth works and will debunk some common misconceptions about birthing underwater. In addition, we will examine the scientific research on laboring and birthing in the water to address whether water birth is safe. Come learn more about a different way to bring your baby into the world!

Heather Thompson, Ph.D. is a molecular biologist with many years of scientific research experience as well as a certified postpartum doula and lactation educator (CAPPA). She has been working with new families for more than 8 years.

2:00PM - Sustainable & Natural Birth Options
Tracy Ryan, CNM Founder, Mountain Midwifery

Obviously your birth choices affect your personal journey to parenting. But we'll also discuss how where you birth and with whom you birth affects our environment and influences the sustainability of quality, affordable maternity care in Colorado. Tracy is the owner and founder of Colorado's only birth center, Mountain Midwifery Center, and has been a Certified-Nurse Midwife since 2002. She has practiced as a midwife in hospital, homebirth, and birth center settings.

3:00PM - Breastfeeding Q&A
Amanda Ogden from The Juicy Baby

A mother's breast milk is designed to provide everything an infant needs to thrive. Breastfeeding also teaches a new mother many of the things she needs to know to be a parent to her child: empathy, intuition, patience, love, and discipline. Join us for this discussion on the benefits of breastfeeding, as well as helpful guidance in strengthening this symbiotic bond between mother and child.

4:00PM - Childbirth Education Choices 
a panel discussion hosted by Tracy Ryan, Owner of Mountain Midwifery Center.

Join us for a panel discussion on the different childbirth education options and programs available to expecting families. Learn about Birthing from Within from Birth Alchemy's Debbie Lane, as well as what's possible with partner coaching through the Bradley Method with Janey Mahaffey, long-time practitioner.

Learn about the different types of cloth diapers, the different materials used, laundry tips, and how to get started in cloth diapering!

12:00PM - Babywearing: A Discussion and Demonstration
Melissa Radcliffe, from TogetherBe and Heather Thompson, from Beyond Birth

Does carrying your baby's carseat all day wreak havoc on your back and arms? Learn to wear your little one in a baby carrier! Babywearing is great for infants because carried babies cry less and learn more. It is also good for parents as it allows you to nurture your baby hands-free! This seminar will cover the why, where and how of wearing your baby. A wide variety of baby carriers will be demonstrated with plenty of time for hands-on exploration of all the carriers. This class is appropriate for prenatal and postpartum families. Babies welcome!

Do you want you and your child to be sleeping better but don't know how to get that sleep?
Sleep is a complex issues that affects the entire family. Age, development, food, activities, and expectations all play a role in how your child goes to sleep and stays a sleep. 3:00PM - Love and Logic: Disciplining our children in a loving way
